Guest Lecturer at UTMS, Mr. Vanja Bitoljanu, expert on tourism and travel management
Within the program of the University of Tourism and Management Skopje, for inviting guest lecturers, in addition of widening the knowledge of our students, as well as, experience in this field, on March 18th 2013, guest lecturer at UTMS was Mr. Vanja Bitoljanu, expert on tourism and travel management.
Mr. Bitoljanu, as an expert on tourism and travel management, in his career performed several important functions, such as General Manager of the Airport in Skopje, General Manager of one of the largest travel organization in the Republic of Macedonia "Palasturist" and General Manager of the first private airline "Paler Macedonia".
He starts his lecture, with exploring the topic of "Tourism Planning", which, is the basis for the development of tourism in our country. He stressed that tourism brings benefits for each country. As an example of well-planned tourism project, Mr. Bitoljanu pointed on the project of Subrata Roy from India. He stressed that the country need to build modern infrastructure, municipal infrastructure, good highway’s and many other items in addition for realization and implementation of the project.
Mr. Bitoljanu, stressed that we still have inadequate ways of planning the tourism activities in Macedonia, for example, in the area of winter tourism, especially with investments in resorts, which are located near Kozuf, Sunny Hill, or Mavrovo. Mr. Bitoljanu, in his speech, referred to congress tourism. Especially, Ohrid is a city appropriate to this type of tourism. Due to the fact that the Republic of Macedonia does not have high quality hotels, which is the most serious offer on the market, the country should develop a strategy for construction hotels according high international standards.
After his lecture, the students had an opportunity for discussions and questions related to development and tourism in our country and future opportunities.
