The Faculty of Economics at the University of Tourism and Management in Skopje is an internationally recognizable and actively active organization, which according to the methodology of acquiring knowledge, skills and competences is synonymous with high standards and requirements for maintaining the quality of higher education, which, as a faculty, has been established and is positioning itself in the ranks of leaders in higher education in Europe and the world.
The mission of the Faculty of Economics is to encourage students' academic excellence and achievements both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the field of economics, ie students have a strong academic foundation with access to various specialized knowledge bases and to ready to become productive, competent professionals and responsible citizens in a diverse, dynamic global environment, and to provide a modern and unique learning environment through the highest-level study process, which it enhances students' potentials and contributes to academic excellence in creating staff in the field of economics, professionals who will be able to implement the positioned policy for faster sustainable development and approximation to world standards
The Faculty of Economics, after the submitted elaborate for its establishment from February 2009, has been accredited with the decision of the Accreditation Board on July 6, 2009, actualized with the decision on reaccreditation dated December 15, 2014.
The need for personnel for the professional field of economic disciplines is in function of the successful implementation in the economic segment of the Republic of Macedonia when it is included in the European and world organizations and institutions. The available data show that in our country there is a permanent lack of adequate professional and professional persons who will be able to implement the economic policy for faster development and approximation to the world standards (banking, accounting, auditing, financial, tax, customs, freight forwarding, insurance segments) .
The determination and segregation of the study areas and programs are in accordance with the Law on Higher Education, with respect to the unified European study, whereby academic standards, modularization and step-by-step development of the curricula from core to narrowly specialized instruction areas. An extremely sustainable ratio between the general (theoretical-scientific) and the professional disciplines has been achieved, thus achieving guidance and professional profiling, according to the student's choice, in the final years of the studies with the system of elective and facultative subjects.
The selection of teaching subjects in areas of interest to students and their accessible representation enable the acquisition of in-depth and specialized knowledge in the field of economics, through stimulating the creativity and affinities of students. The realization of the study programs affirms the active synergistic role of the student through the presence and influences related to scientific-expert and research seminars, consultations and confrontations, which are evaluated according to the ECTS system, which provides students with and from other higher education institutions in the country, and abroad.
The programs at the Faculty of Economics are compatible (about 70%) with related faculties from the district (Croatia - Economic Faculty Sveucilista in Zagreb, Slovenia - Faculty of Economics - University of Ljubljana, with which the joint degree agreement for the second cycle of studies is active, Serbia - University of Belgrade, Faculty of Economics), as well as faculties from the wider European environment and the United States, especially the Stern University School of Business in New York. Foundations in this area have been created in accordance with the implementation of the grading of the faculties of the ranked faculties according to the Shanghai List, according to the provisions of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Macedonia.
The Faculty of Economics as a constitutive part of the University of Tourism and Management in Skopje has concluded a number of institutional cooperation agreements, of which over 17 are in the field of cooperation in the European programs. Within the Erasmus + program, agreements have been concluded with the University of Valencia, Spain and La Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, as well as the Bulent Ecevit University from Zonguldak, Turkey. The internal acts, which have an integral character, determine the procedures and support for the realization of the inter-university cooperation and support the realization of the joint programs at the first and second cycle of studies, the study program for International Relations, and the procedure for a joint diploma is underway based on an agreement with the Maastricht School of Management in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
The Public Trust Board at the Faculty of Economics was established in order to provide professional and applicative support in the work of the Faculty. This advisory body is composed of experienced professionals in the field of economic segment at local, state, economic, financial, supervisory and advisory level, which contribute to improving the competitiveness of students for their effective incorporation in further professional development.
The Faculty of Economics at the University of Tourism and Management in Skopje started the realization of student practice in the organizations and institutions in the Republic of Macedonia since 2011, long before the legal solutions are adopted on this basis, which is one of the foundations for its functioning.
The Faculty has imposed and continuously implements the concept of practical work (in the Republic of Macedonia and abroad), in function of which, in the coming academic years, teaching for subjects in the field of economics will be in line with the selected institutions and organizations, according to the students' affinities about adequate micro, macro and mesoeconomics.
The Faculty of Economics at the University of Tourism and Management in Skopje permanently promotes and implements the teaching-professional workshops and visits to important events in function of upgrading in the area with the immediate improvement of the knowledge students. Students can become familiar with the practical use of the curriculum theory.
Practicums are fully conceptualized to the curriculum of the Faculty and in the function of building students' competencies.
The University's Success Policy encourages the Faculty of Economics to organize teaching in such a way that it is as close as possible to practice. For this purpose, part of the faculty classes are demonstration-educational cooperations with successful enterprises or in enterprises that have the opportunity to promote the applicative value of the theoretical knowledge that students receive from the daily life of the business sector, inviting professionals-lecturers and associates who are closely specialized in the areas in which lectures and exercises are held, in order to develop appropriate topics conceptually aligned with the full and sub-specialized affirmative focus t students.
Definitely, the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tourism and Management is a challenge, a scholar, a masterpiece, a developer and a prospect for generations !!!
