LECTURE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TOURISM AND MANAGEMENT, DEPUTY AMBASSADOR OF TURKEY – MR SINAN ERTAY

    Diplomatic relations between countries, one of the most important factors for tourism development

    According to the established practice for invited guest lecturers, today 08.11.2013 at University of Tourism and Management had the honor to host the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Sinan Ertay. Beside the students from UTMS, on the lecture where Turkey was presented as a tourist destination, including its economic and cultural potentials some of the professors were present too.

    His presentation Turkish Deputy Ambassador in the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Sinan Altay, started with presenting himself, emphasizing that his diplomatic mission in Republic of Macedonia started recently. Previously, this same function he was performing in the Turkish Embassy in Belgium and Berlin. Mr. Altay, even though he pointed that his knowledge is in the fields of diplomacy, he tried, from his point of view, to indicate to the students of UTMS to draw a few facts about tourism in Turkey. First, noting that one of the crucial things that is the most important for the development of tourism, diplomatic relations between the two countries, specifically between our country and the Republic of Turkey, but also visa, which he said is an important consideration for the development of tourism.

    Treatment of tourists at the airport, then the culture of a country, or cultural interaction are the segments in which the policy has a major impact, said Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, which cited an example of Israel, the country with which Turkey faces major problems. Consequently, his country does not have an ambassador in Tel Aviv, Israel, nor has ambassador in Ankara, a situation that seriously affects international relations, which, in turn, reflects the development of tourism in the two countries, but also in the field of economic stability.

    Operating with statistics, Mr. Altay said that the number of tourists in 2011 was 31.5 million tourists, which ranks republic of Turkey sixth in the world, as a popular tourist destination. Also, noting that tourists visit Turkey not only for the beaches but also for all other types of tourism such as medical, religious, cultural, congress, golf course and sports tourism and shopping tourism. But despite the fact that Turkey is a developed tourist destination, Turkey's deputy ambassador said that his country is intensively working on infrastructure and accommodation facilities, as well as on many other segments including hygiene, which pointed to the fact that the Republic Turkey is the third in the world in terms of clean beaches and clean water, or just behind Spain, which holds the first place and Greece which is on the second position.

    During the visit at UTMS, Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey met with the Vice Rector for Science and Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Prof. Dr. Saso Kozhuharov, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Assoc. Dr. Sasko Gramatnikovski, as well as with Prof. Dimitar Bojadjieski, when a mutual satisfaction with this type of collaboration with the Embassy UTMS, which is of mutual benefit, was expressed.

    The visit of His Excellency realized within the program at the University of Tourism and Management for inviting guest lecturers, giving them the opportunity in their speeches to present their own countries from economic, political and cultural aspects.
