The scientific research practicum in Belgrade - another confirmation for the continued commitment of UTMS to the practical education of students.
On 22.02.2013, the students from UTMS, led by the Asst. Prof. Zoran Strezovski, PhD, and the teaching assistants Marina Stojmirova MA and Anna Bitoljanu MA, have realized a study tour – a visit to Belgrade Tourism Fair 2013.
The University of Tourism and Management in Skopje, in accordance with its own vision for interactive study, consistently provides the students with practical training through attendance and participation in various events, conferences, seminars, fairs, etc.. Linking theory and practice during the study is crucial for the education of our students and it is a rare opportunity to introduce them with the demanding business environment during their studies.
This time, the goal was achieved with the visit to Belgrade International Tourism Fair 2013.
The fair was attended by approximately fifty students from various faculties - Faculty of Tourism, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Human Resources and the Faculty of Management. This study tour was intended primarily for students of the Faculty of Tourism but as the students from other faculties showed interest, we were able to respond to their demands.
The first impressions for the fair were positive in terms if its size, attendance, number of stands, diversity of supply etc..
At the fair, the students received a variety of tasks according to the programme of the existing faculties, aimed at encouraging critical thinking, analyzing specific relevant areas, perceiving certain issues etc. Examples of tasks: Faculty of Tourism – Analyze the tourist offer; think which destination / country is especially distinguished. HR Faculty - think and try to find which agency / country / company has the most developed HR department and which of them faces problems in terms of representations at fairs. Faculty of Economics - think and ask about the economic effects of the presentation; for other faculties - find 3 things that in your opinion are extremely well organized and 3 that could do better.
During the visit, the students led by the Asst. Professor Zoran Strezovski, PhD analyzed stands, visual appearance, equipping staff with promotional materials and expertise in presenting their own stands.
Within the planned activities, it is noteworthy that two students from the Faculty of Tourism had the opportunity to try out the role of travel companions in practice, more precisely, the guidance of the group during the trip was handed over to them, of course with the help and support of the assistants.
After visiting the fair, the students headed towards Delta Mall.
UTMS strives to provide teaching and practical activities free of charge, whenever is that possible, which in turn, results with an increase in the interest of the students regarding their assignments and enables practical understanding of the theoretical part of teaching.
